Family sessions bring out the best in everyone, from the little, precious moments to the big smiles. It's a literal snapshot in time. I so much enjoy watching families grow and change and having the opportunity to photograph them through the years. The Hallen family is one of those families for me. I photographed them before during a Boho Beach family session and when I was recently in Charleston, SC, Elena, the mom, excitedly jumped at the chance to do another family session with me. They drove for 3 hours for our shoot. We were missing their little boy, who couldn't make it since he had school, but we had tons of fun exploring the streets of Charleston from Rainbow Row to Bedons Alley and Tradd Street!

Charleston is a city that has a true Southern vibe with its vibrantly colored buildings along Rainbow Row, charming alleyways like Bedons Alley, picturesque cobblestoned streets like Tradd Street, and waterfront views from the Battery. It is a beautiful location for capturing moments of family love. Our session was like any typical family day out - the family spent quality time together while I captured their interactions. They were, as before, a total joy to photograph, and I couldn’t have asked for a better setting than Charleston.

The Hallen family's choice of clothes for their portrait session was stunning. They had a stylish vibe that made them look like they belonged in a magazine! I was mesmerized by the sweet innocence in the daughter's eyes when she clung to her mother – it was such a cute photo opportunity I just couldn’t miss. Capturing the bond between each of them was a truly special experience.

I love when families bring props to the session and these guys brought a skateboard! Incorporating it was so much fun and added a bit of energy to the photo shoot. Fresh-faced and delighted, the little one experimented with different ways to maneuver the board - sitting, sliding, or precariously clinging on while receiving gentle guidance from her encouraging parents. Their boho-chic vibes and intimate moments warmed my heart. The parents were swooning over that precious little girl who seemed intent on exploring every corner of the city. 

I loved how truly natural Elena and her husband were together—never missing an opportunity for a loving gesture. They were so in love that I couldn't help but feel my heart melt while capturing their moments! Plus, the little one was just adding to the ambiance, playfully fidgeting with mommy’s hat here and having fun and goofy moments with daddy there. Photographing her lovely smile and twinkling eyes made it all such a wonderful overall experience!
